SETTING
whitechapel road is an area of about five miles by three miles, the majority of the land being taken up by a dense wooded area. downtown is small but filled with everything you may need, and residencies can be found anywhere in the surrounding area.

THE RAIL STATION
you arrive on a train. in fact, it's the loud screech of the whistle that wakes you up, and though you may be so disoriented at first that you don't notice the extra drawstring bag on your belt, you'll soon get over that feeling. you exit the station to explore, and if you ever turn back, you'll find there's nothing but an overgrown patch of grass. the train appears weekly, though. wednesday nights, to be exact. all deliveries (new people and new products) arrive then, at 11pm. you won't be allowed to board the train, however. once you've arrived in Whitechapel Road, there's no way out.

DOWNTOWN
once you've made your way into town, you find that it's mostly centered around one street. main street, if you will, is lined with shops and restaurants. anything you'll need to live peacefully can be found in the shops, and if there's something you're missing very dearly, one of the shop owners may just be able to get it back for you. for a price.

LODGINGS
whitechapel road offers a great variety of lodgings, depending on your character's means. the list, from most reasonably priced to most ah, unreasonably priced is as follows:
MS. WHITE'S HOME FOR THOSE WHO WANDER
located at the end of the main street, Ms. White's boarding house provides shelter for any number of those who need it. all the ever-absent Ms. White asks for in return is the promise that you'll do your part in taking care of the house. it's old and requires quite a bit of upkeep. once you move in, your name is added to a list of chores that changes bi-monthly. you're welcome to swap chores with someone, but you must complete them. rooms are pre-furnished, but if something's not to your liking, you're welcome to go up to the attic and find something that's more your style. the fully functional kitchen is always well-stocked, though mostly with basics. if there's something specific you need, you'll have to get it from one of the shops.
MS. GALLAGHER'S APARTMENT HOMES
just behind Ms. White's runs Cathedral Lane, which is lined solely with residencies. on one side sits Ms. Gallagher's-- three two-story buildings, filled with apartments. each apartment comes with the basics-- kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, etc. each building has a shared laundry room in the basement, with three washers and three dryers. the kitchens are self-stocking with the basics, so again, any specific food you may want, you'll have to purchase. rent is 5 silver coins per month, and is collected bi-monthly.
MR. DALLOWAY'S LUXURY TOWN HOMES
six sets of two spacious beautiful town homes line the opposite side of Cathedral Lane. they feature open floor plans, copious amounts of sunlight and more privacy than the boarding house affords you. each unit has its own kitchen and laundry room, as well as private baths for each bedroom. as in the boarding houses, the kitchens are self-stocked, so there's no need to go out to eat. it all comes at a price, however. 10 silver coins a month, to be exact. but don't worry, rent's collected bi-monthly, so you've got time to save.
SANCTUARY CRESCENT
if you visit Cathedral Lane, you'll notice at the end sits a large stone wall, complete with a gate, and a keypad outside. the sign outside reads SANCTUARY CRESCENT, and if you get up high enough, you can see the roofs of large, beautiful houses peeking through lush trees. these are the most expensive homes in Whitechapel, and don't even think about living there-- it's way out of your price range. and if it weren't, well, they probably wouldn't let you in anyway. the families who live there are the founders of Whitechapel, and they own the town. it's their town, really, and you'd do well to remember that. you may be able to find a job cleaning their pools or mowing their lawns, but that's the closest you'll get to their lifestyle.

THE WOODS
opposite the lake and the rail station, and almost encroaching on the downtown area is the dense forest area of Whitechapel Road. as most wooded areas go, there are parts where making your way through the paths in the trees is much easier than in others. were you to follow a path, it would lead you back around to the main road and never to the other side of the woods. you can, of course, go off the path, but be careful, don't stray too far or you may not return.

THE LAKE
on your way to town from the rail station, you probably noticed the large, murky lake. most days the lake's covered in fog, and the water's too dark to see any life, but some days, when the sun's clear, you may just be able to look straight across the water and see land poking over the horizon. not that you'll ever be able to investigate, however, since there's only one extremely rickety dock and no boat in sight. no one in Whitechapel owns a boat, actually, and everyone seems to follow the advice of the sign situated right on the lake's boarder that reads SWIMMING ILL-ADVISED, DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.
