Her gaze moved away though - from the bulletin and the crime scene and to the small crowd that had gathered. Kate wondered if the killer was there, standing among them. Enjoying the brief rush he would get from this killing, one that would likely hold him over for a short while before it faded. And when it did, he would crave that rush again, seek it out. And everyone here knew it. Everyone here knew they could be next.
"It's not our case, Castle," she reminded him, but she was mostly reminding herself. They didn't need to get distracted with this. They needed to find a way back to New York.
